Weekend Treat: Bacalla Woods Campsite
As they say "there is no wifi in the forest but you will find a better connection" and indeed it's true. You'll get a better connection with life and nature.
Lately, work is getting on my nerves. I needed a breather. Most of the time, I would always prefer the beach but I also wanted to try something new. Something I haven't done in such a long time ~ and it's camping. But I want somewhere near from my home 'coz I wanna save time, energy and of course money. Hahaha. Ta-da! Bacalla Woods Campsite is the answer.
This campsite is located at Brgy. Ilaya, San Fernando, Cebu City. Known as "The Little Bali Indonesia of Cebu" because of its infinity swing. Bacalla Woods Campsite touts itself as the home of the artists, environmentalists, explorers, extreme sports athletes, campers and all nature enthusiasts.
If you are looking for somewhere to disconnect, then this is the place for you. I would say it is not what I expected, so please lower down your expectations too. It's pretty basic but that's what I love about it. It feels like I'm in my grandparents' province.
THINGS TO NOTE:
- There is no wifi nor cellular signal.
- You may bring your own tent.
- If you don't have one, you may rent a tent or a hammock.
- You may cook your own food in the area, as well as borrow kitchen utensils.
- Be responsible of your trash.
- Clean restroom.
Unplugging is real here |
I went there together with my two brothers, my brother's SO, my cousin and my bespren. The goal was for my brothers, and maybe the SO to try camping, s'mores and trekking. They needed that. I want them to go on an adventure, that there's something better than just online games. I also want them to understand why I always opt to travel.

One of the struggles we encountered on the campsite was the cooking area *sigh*. We fail to anticipate that there were a lot of campers that will also use the said area. So, we have to wait for our turn.
The thing I love about going to a different place is that time seems so slow. After we had our dinner, we decided to make S'mores and when we were done with it, it's still too early to sleep. Then, we played cards 'til someone surrendered. Hahahaha you know who you are! *evil grin*
River trekking |
Bacalla Woods Campsite also offers:
- River Trekking
- Trekking to Bugho falls
- Mountain Biking
- Snorkelling
- Skateboarding
For us, we decided to go for river trekking because we were told that it would only take two hours for the whole trek. But to our surprise it took us two hours to reach the the main river *crying heavily*. We did not bring enough water, so please learn from our mistakes. *cries of despair*
Looking great but exhausted hahahaha |
Do I still need to caption this? |
This is it! |
Though we were worn-out from the trek I could not deny that we absolutely enjoyed it. On our way back to the campsite, we choose to take a motorcycle instead. Hahahaha
This is by far my fave photo |
